Brisbane Termite Inspections

Regular Termite Inspections are very important, with early detection of Termite activity saving you stress and thousands of dollars in repairs to you home.

What is involved in a termite inspection?

1). Active termites
2). Termite damage
3). Conducive conditions
4). High risk areas for termite entry

ACTIVE TERMITES:

May well be established in areas such as the subfloor, under patios, the roof cavity or in internal wall cavities.Termites can also be discovered where there are exposed timbers around the building, such as timber sleepers in the garden, timber retaining walls, timber fences, timber decks, timber pergolas or timber play houses, almost all timber which comes in direct contact with the ground may have termites already inside causing hundreds if not thousands of dollars damage.

TERMITE DAMAGE:

Areas where it is discovered termites have visited will usually have noticeable signs that termites have left behind, such as mudding, or mud leads or physical damage. A termite Inspection will reveal these particular areas where termites have been and give a better understanding of how susceptible the building is for future termite infestations.

CONDUSIVE CONDITIONS:

The condition of a property determines how susceptible it is to termite infestation. Areas which are known to have high termite activity will put the home owner at risk without taking into account the condition that the property is in. factors such as drainage, water leaks, exposed timber, inadequate ventilation into subfloors, are just a few of the reasons why termites are attracted to a property.

HIGH RISK AREAS:

Termites will gain access if the opportunity presents itself.

This means if there are condusive conditions for termites to establish themselves, then these areas would be deem condusive and identified as higher (than normal) risk areas. Recommendations in the report help the home owner change these condusive conditions to reduce the chances of termites infesting and thus reduce the risk of termites accessing a property.

Drainage & ventilation, water leaks, exposed timber, slab edge exposure, and previous treatments to the property are some of the other areas in the report which can impact the likely hood of future infestations. We encourage home owners to be pro-active in preventing termites from accessing their home by regularly getting their homes inspected.
